Primary 1 have settled into primary school life extremely well. Well done everyone and a special thanks to the Primary 7 buddies.
This term, Primary 1 are busy learning their new sounds and common words, using active games, songs, actions and magnetic boards. We are focusing on forming our letters correctly.
In numeracy, we will be learning all about recognising, ordering and counting numbers to 10 and beyond. We have been learning about the days of the week and will progress onto the months of the year. We have all measured our height and used mathematical language such as tall, short, taller and shorter. We have been finding shapes within our classroom environment and talking about their properties.
This term, we are all getting to know each other better by discussing our own special gifts and talents and showing an understanding that everyone is unique. We will invite important members of our school community into our class to learn more about their role in St. Matthews.
